I liked Randi's idea on get real Monday. What would my shoes have to do with sewing? Here is my favorite shoes. Now these have little to do with sewing. A few years ago I was diagnosed with bone spurs on both feet. It was a so painful. Between the physical therapist and changing to wearing Birkenstocks I now have no pain. I love these shoes. The General thinks I might should start buying some that are more colorful and cutsey. The ones I have are pretty plain.
These are the reason I thought my shoes would go with my sewing blog. My friend Debbie turned me on to crocheting flip flops last summer! She went bonkers and made 100's of pairs. I made Captain Kitty several pairs and I made these three for myself. These are my fun shoes that I wear when I don't plan to walk far or be on my feet much.
I have to run work on a skirt I am making for some one. I will try to post some cute "purple" fabric later.
Sew Long for Now!

Hi, I'm here from Randi's...
You are so creative! I would have never thought of crocheting flip flops :-)
The flip-flops are fun!
I have never owned a pair of Birks but people who wear them seem to love them! I think they come in crazy colors like pink and apple green--the General may like those!
I have heel pain as well and always look for shoes that say "EVA cushioning". I never thought of trying Birks, what a great idea! I've also heard that Crocs are great on the feet. My MIL who has bone spurs wears those and loves them - and they come in all kinds of flashy colors. :o)
Hmm, I wouldn't have thought Crocs were good on the feet; they seem flimsy. But then again I've never tried them!
Cindi, your flipflops are cute! I tell ya, sew-ers can do just about anything!
And, yet another thing we have in common--I always have to be sure I have very comfortable shoes because of heel spurs. I had surgery on both heels back in '97 to get them fixed. So now I never go barefoot. But I've never tried the Birks you mentioned.
Thanks for the fun post.
I have a heel spurs too...from walking barefoot on wood floors. They are so painful if I don't wear good shoes. I haven't tried Birkies yet, but have heard lots of raves. I wear Keens and LOOOOOVE them!
My boys' stepmother was just wanting to buy Birkies for the same reason. She also has really small feet, so it's hard for her to find them.
I love the crocheted flip-flops. I would definitely recognize you in those now. LOL
My mom wears Birkenstocks a lot. I don't currently have a pair, but they are comfortable!
