Sew Long for Now.

HiHo, HiHo, it's off to sew I go! LOL, These 16 flags are becoming my life. I must admit that I do serve an awesome God! I was thinking all morning how I just might not be able to get them done by Tuesday evening and maybe I should call the church to see what time the bucket truck was coming to put them up Wednesday and maybe it would be in the afternoon to give me a few more hours. Then I got a call from the church and the bucket truck will not be there until Thursday at noon! What an answer to prayer. I hung the sample out and Captain Kitty said that while she was walking the puppy today a lady ask her where I got it. She proudly told me that she told the lady her Momma made it! How sweet she can be.
Captain Cool, who was promoted to Major and as of today will be a Lt. Colonel has not heard from the AFA yet, but VMI has accepted him. The life of a high school senior!

I could post another picture of Schoolhouse Fabrics, I could post two more pictures of Schoolhouse Fabrics! Tuesday I finished cutting out all the flag bunting I had and found that I had miscalculated the amount I needed. After violin lessons that day Captain Kitty and I headed to Floyd. It takes an hour to get there from our house. This was CK's first trip to this paradise. It took us a little longer because I had to give her a tour of every nook and cranny. Then on the way home we stopped at Sweet Providance Farm Market. When I got to Bent Mountain my cell phone rang. It was the General telling me that I needed 16 flags instead of 12. Oh no! The Schoolhouse closed in 1/2 hour so there was no way I could get back today. We went home and I planned on returning the following morning. Early Wednesday I packed up Captain Kitty and Captain Chaos and we headed for Floyd. I bought out the rest of two colors he had in flag bunting. Jerry is so nice! If you ever get a chance go there. Captain Chaos wanted to look around and we did, but not too long because I needed to get home and get to work. He found several fabrics some with Star Wars and some with bugs that he liked and informed me that I would have to make a future trip there. When we got home I cut out the rest of the flags pieces. Then I serged the sides of all 16 flags. I started putting in the rod pockets. These flags are 60X30 and have a rod pocket of 3 1/8 on each end. I only got two done yesterday. Today my goal is to get all the rod pockets completed.

These are pictures of the two sides of the new bag I made. I used material sent to me last summer by Linda at Craftapple. The bag has a square bottom and the outside pockets are two different materials, one on each side. The base is a green denim. The inside is lined with a cream colored cotton and also has two pockets. These pockets are a cream color of the floral material in the second picture. The handles are green denim on one side and a cream with green stripe on the other. I cut out 12 crosses from a cream colored flag bunting last night. Today I am planning to cut out the gold crowns and cut the flag bases. I also hope to cut out the dresses I didn't get done yesterday. Tonight I am going to participate in a card ministry with women in my church.

This is not exactly how Schoolhouse Fabrics looked yesterday. It was cold and windy with flurries. We went there to pick up the flag bunting to make the 12 flags for the church. It has been a busy week of running around. Monday night we went to the nursing home to help. Then again on Tuesday morning we went to another section to help. Tuesday night was my stay at home wife/mother meeting. Wednesday I went to Augusta Hospital where my Daddy had surgery. Thursday morning was Bernina Club meeting. On Friday I cut out 7 dresses for the statue that I made outfits for last year. I also cut out and began making myself a new bag. Saturday we went to Floyd and then came back to town where Captain Kitty and I went shopping for her. Next week I need to work on the flags, work on the statue outfits, and finish my new bag.

Just an update on happenings here. I am still working on the digitize of the button. Since she wants to do it all in one color and there are lots of elements to it, it is a bit tricky. It takes over 1 1/2 hours to sew it out and I have sewn out countless samples and then had to correct stitches. In the meantime while I sit waiting for that to sew out; I have made a curtain for a couples bathroom window, embroidered a baby blanket I made out of fleece for a friend, and hemmed two pair of pants. I haven't heard yet about the flags. Since it will cost them over $500 they had to take it to the trustees.

Here is the latest digitize I did and sewed out. It's a quilt square for a man who had a triple heart bypass. At the bottom it has the day he was mended and his name. More sewing came in today. I would like to make my Easter dress and help Captain Kitty make hers. I wonder if I will have enough time. If the church goes with the flag I made they want the burgundy with white cross. I am going to use the sample on my flag pole out front. I was thinking of making another with flowers blooming around the cross to put up on Easter morning.

The flag sample is finished. I think it needs some color, but this was the idea we discussed. Maybe a white cross on a burgundy background with the golden brown crown of thorns? The digitizing of the button design is still a work in progress. I got a new job yesterday. I need to digitize a picture and then sew it out on a quilt square.

This is a sample I've been working on of a flag. I haven't finished it. This is the first flag I've ever done. It has some flaws, but it's been fun to work on. If the lady likes it I will be making 12 more. I have been working on a digitizing for a woman. It's been a bear! I keep having to tweek it. It takes over 1 1/2 hours to sew out!

Besides this the General and went to Floyd Friday to Schoolhouse Fabrics where I bought some flag bunting and some material. I have also been busy planning for graduation of our oldest son. Things seem to be busy around here lately.
